Sensibility - a word that combines the works of DK, Ana Zibelnik and Nataša Segulin. While each has a uniqe approach to the medium, this viewing room seeks to bring them together with an emphasis on their capacity for abstraction. A capacity to transform their subjects into subtle, but powerful images.

DK's series Scotoma, recently exhibited at in Salon Galić gallery in Split, is in the words of the artst "a visualized journey from cognitive reasoning towards an immanent, intuitive understanding of the world." The photographs, all taken in close proximity to his studio, read as a map of the subconscious, varying from imaginary landscapes to abstract fields of light.

Similarily, Ana Zibelnik's Immortality is Commonplace transcends time and space. While titles at times reveal what hides in each photograph, under Zibelnik's precise lense rivers, rocks, algea and fire become symbols of immortality, time and endurance. 

Ana Zibelnik's work is currently on show in the photomuseum in the Hague.

 

Although focused on a specific location, specifically the abandoned Koper Servite Monastery, Segulin does not restrict herself to figurative representation either. Instead, the series Lumen and Impressions capture their subject with an attention to both physical and metaphorical light. The result is a hopeful, sensitive and peaceful expression of the artist's perception.

 

As the titles of two of the series suggest light is imperative for all the artists. A strong contrast between light and dark, a conscious overexposure or a moody fog all work to produce a strong emotional response.
