ON THE EDGE
FROM NORTH TO SOUTH AND IN BETWEENCiril Jazbec, Matjaž Krivic & DK
-
"On the edge" is indeed a fitting title for the exhibition of Ciril Jazbec and Matjaž Krivic currently on view in Ptuj as part of the Art Stays 21st Festival of Contemporary Art. While Ciril Jazbec has travelled to the extreme conditions of the far north, exploring the lives of young inuit generations, one can almost feel the dry heat of the south through Matjaž Krivic's photographs. Each artist finds himself at one extreme, bringing a unique point of view to the overall theme of the festival - voyage.
DK, also exhibiting at the Art Stays festival, brings yet another contrasting approach to voyage. In his series, he embarks on imaginary journeys through the camera lens, while never actually leaving the proximity of his studio space.
At the peak of tourist season the vivid results of these artists' journeys can inspire, satisfy or awaken the traveller within us all.
