On the occasion of the publication of the new book Where's the Afters? by Nik Erik Neubauer, which accompanies the opening of the upcoming exhibition of the same name at the Museum of Contemporary and Contemporary History of Slovenia, we kindly invite you to the book presentation and a talk with the author, which will take place on Tuesday, 18th April, at 6 pm at Galerija Fotografija.
Alongside the author, the book will be presented by the exhibition curator Tina Fortič Jakopič, graphic designer Emil Kozole (Ljudje) and art historian Hana Čeferin, who will moderate the discussion.
The exhibition Where’s the Afters? offers only a glimpse into a large series of protest photographs taken by Nik Erik Neubauer between May 2020 and April 2022. What started spontaneously then grew into an extensive collection of images that today not only represent a systematic archive of what happened in those days, but also a self-contained approach to the genre of reportage-documentary photography. Moreover, it is protest photography that often plays a key role in shaping the collective narrative of a specific protest movement. This is why, in certain cases, such photography moves from recording to commentary and interpretation by the person behind the lens.
