Luka Mjeda: Covers of the Magazine 'Danas' (31 August 1982–8 October 1985)

You are warmly invited to the talk and opening of the exhibition Covers of the Magazine 'Danas' (31 August 1982–8 October 1985). The event will take place on Wednesday, October 21, at 6 pm, celebrating the period when the covers were collaboratively designed by art director Mirko Ilić and photographer Luka Mjeda.
 
Once lending the newspaper Danas an air of aesthetic and political provocation, these front pages fostered awareness of the right to one’s own opinion and the freedom of public expression. Today, they remind us of that era, highlighting the striking resemblance between past and present challenges. At the same time, they warn us that even within a democracy, there are just as many reasons – if not more – to question the motives, interests and goals of those making far-reaching decisions on our behalf. These are decisions that impact every one of us. At the opening, Luka Mjeda will be joined in conversation by Božo Kovačević, a former Croatian minister and diplomat.
