48stunden (48 ur) je fotografski projekt, ki raziskuje mnoge obraze mesta, njegove različnosti in nasprotja. Ne ozira se le k delom mesta, ki izžarevajo bogastvo in napredek, mir in tišino, pač pa predvsem k tistim delom, ki so zapuščeni in pozabljeni. Poigrava se z globoko kompleksnostjo, ki je utelešena v vsakem središču zgodovine in kulture ter vizualno sooča osamljenost, ki je sestavni del vsake metropole. V tem primeru se osamljenost osredotoča na praznino, pa tudi kot fizično in psihološko oddaljenost med ljudmi, in na nostalgično lepoto odprtega prostora.
Vsi posnetki za 48stunden so narejeni s fotoaparatom, imenovanim LOMO, ki naj bi ga vohuni nekdaj uporabljali v ruskem podzemlju. Predstavljajo nekakšno čudežnost in lepoto nevidnega in neznanega. Občutek nadrealizma in sanjskosti, ki je povezan z osebno izkušnjo in čustvi ter vplivi z vsega sveta, prežema vse posnetke.
Projekt 48stunden se je začel v Sydneyu leta 2005, nadaljeval se je na Dunaju in v Melbournu, kjer je bil avgusta leta 2006 tudi že uspešno raztavljen v galeriji Angela Roberts-Bird Gallery. Kamenčke v mozaiku projekta je Yenny dodala že na Dunaju, v Barceloni, v Monaku, v Parizu in v Ljubljani. Avtorica ima namen elemente tega projekta posneti v mnogih kulturnih prestolnicah sveta ter s tem opozoriti na enkratno mešanico znanega in še neodkritega. 48stunden oblikuje abstraktno interpretacijo, kolektivno opažanje in intenzivno iskanje kompleksnega karakterja mesta, njegovih ljudi in dežele.
V vsakem mestu si Yenny za opazovanje in fotografiranje čas omeji na 48 ur. Vsaka umetnina je sestavljena vsaj iz dveh prekritih posnetkov, ki pa jih je lahko tudi petnajst ali več. To tehniko je umetnica razvila zato, da bi resnično lahko zajela zgoraj omenjeno kompleksnost in še pomembneje, živahno in natančno uporabo barv. Kljub temu, da so posnetki skenirani in previdno pripravljeni za tisk na računalniku, je vse pomembno in ključno delo za končno umetnino opravljeno s fotoaparatom. Za izdelavo velikih, tudi večmetrskih formatov, Yenny ni uporabila nobene digitalne manipulacije.
ABOUT THE SERIES
48stunden (48 hours) is a photography project exploring the many facets of a city, its diversity, and contradictions. It looks not only at places of wealth and prosperity, peace and quiet but also at those that have been neglected and forgotten. It engages with the deep complexity that is embedded within every centre of history and culture and visually confronts the loneliness present in any large metropolis. In this context, loneliness refers to the emptiness within as well as the physical and psychological distance between people, and the nostalgic beauty of open space.
All images for 48stunden are captured with a camera that spies once used in the Russian underground, also known as LOMO. They present a certain mystery and beauty of the unseen and unknown. A surreal and dream-like feel affects the images, incorporating personal experience and emotion with influences from all over the world.
48stunden (48 hours) originally started in Sydney in 2005 and phases have since also been completed in Melbourne, Vienna, Barcelona, Monaco, Paris, and Ljubljana. Eventually elements of this project shall be completed in many cultural cities around the world portraying a unique mix of the known and less discovered. 48stunden forms an abstract interpretation, a collective observation and intensive search for the complex character of a city, its people, and its country.
In each participating city, 48 hours are allocated to capture and discover. Each artwork is formed out of a minimum of two overlapping frames up to 15 or more. This technique was developed to truly capture the above-described complexity and is furthermore emphasised by a vibrant and distinct use of colour. Even though the images are scanned and carefully prepared for printing on the computer, everything essential and defining for the image is done in camera. No digital manipulation is used to produce the final large format prints.
