Roberto Kusterle will present his newest series of black-white photos The Marks of Metembiosis (2012). Kusterle is interested in the representation of people in connection with the nature around us. The images he creates around the themes he tackles tell the story of a unique time and place, where divisions between dreams, reality, humankind and animals melt and re-emerge in a form of close cohabitation, transforming vital energy into ethically-charged tension.
In addition to the poetic beauty of Dahab (a Bedouin fishing village situated on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt) these photographic series also serve to expose cultural contradictions, social hierarchies and empowerment – the three central points of Jane Štravs’s photographic thinking.
Matej Andraž Vogrinčič, in his site-specific work in both urban and natural environments, creates installations specific to local places, traditions, and histories, filling the most ordinary or neglected of places with even more ordinary objects. As with all of his work, Vogrinčič starts with the space but always leaves room to change and develop the idea in the process. His projects rely on a direct connection with the local community. The projects for the exhibition are particularly recent (2012): one installation was made in the small Carinthian village of Sveče (Suetschach) in an old, typical house with typical “black kitchen”, stressing the original purpose and symbolical meanings of the space; another project Impilabile was created in 2012 for the European Capital of Culture in Maribor focusing on the subject-issue of water.
