As part of the European Month of Photography Berlin, Slovenian photographer Vanja Bućan presents her exhibition Birds of Paradise at Haunt Berlin. 

The exhibition Birds of Paradise deals with the role of women as domestic workers. The artist embarked on this series of works at a time of pandemic, when the emphasis on the work of housewives and mothers led her to reconsider the role of women as preordained domestic workers. She approaches these themes with humour by highlighting moments in the kitchen and at the table; actions that symbolically define our daily lives but often go unnoticed and economically unrewarded.

 

The series Birds of Paradise was presented in Galerija Fotografija for the first time in 2022. Now, the concluded series is accompanied by new works.

The exhibition was organised by SKICA Berlin, with partners Galerija Fotografija and HAUNT/frontviews e.V. (Berlin).
