On 11th July, on the International Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide, we will display the photograph Mother of Srebrenica by Almin Zrno in one of our windows.
This powerful photograph symbolises silence, sorrow and dignity, invoking introspection and compassion. It bears witness to the unimaginable horrors that transcend language and rational understanding, offering a profound cultural and artistic response to the preservation of truth.
The project aligns with the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 78/282, adopted on 23rd May 2024, which proclaimed 11th July as the International Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide. The resolution emphasises the importance of remembrance and education in order to prevent the recurrence of such crimes. By joining this project, we use artistic expression to convey a message of solidarity, respect for the victims and a commitment to safeguarding the truth about Srebrenica. This powerful work of art stands as a symbol of remembrance, dignity and commitment to universal human rights.
