Jadran Lazić: 50 years of photography

Jadran Lazić, the first Yugoslav paparazzo, began his career in 1971 by photographing Hajduk in his hometown of Split and continued with Charlotte Rampling in Paris. He achieved world fame when, at the funeral of Soviet President Brezhnev, he managed to take a close-up photo of the deceased, which Newsweek later chose as the photo of the year.

There practically wasn't a Hollywood star and celebrity of the 70's and 80's who was not caught by Lazić's camera, from Yugoslav Dino Dvornik, Mišo Kovač, Suzana Mančić, Dražen Petrović and many others, to Jodie Foster (whom he once even brought to Hvar), Gillian Anderson, Sylvester Stallon, Roman Polanski, Robert De Niro, Jamie Foxx, Abu Abbas, Johnny Depp, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Elizabeth Taylor, David Bowie, Bianca Jagger, Kirk Douglas, Sigourney Weaver, Jack Nicholson, Carlo Ponti, Sofia Loren, Marlon Brando, Richard Gere ... and many others, whose photographs he collected in a rich two-part monograph entitled Jadran Lazić, 50 years of photography. The photographs are supported by Lazić's stories, which reveal interesting and often surprising moments from behind the scenes.

Jadran Lazić lives in Los Angeles and spends at least a few months of every year on Hvar island in Croatia.
