Marjan Pfeifer’s creative work is of utmost importance for Slovene nation not just because of its declarative characteristic, but also as a photographic cultural heritage. It was presented in the Modern Gallery at the end of 1975 and at the beginning of 1976 as an extensive retrospective exhibition. His work was also a part of notable exhibition projects like »150 let fotografije na Slovenskem II.del«

Marjan Pfeifer’s creative work is of utmost importance for Slovene nation not just because of its declarative characteristic, but also as a photographic cultural heritage. It was presented in the Modern Gallery at the end of 1975 and at the beginning of 1976 as an extensive retrospective exhibition. His work was also a part of notable exhibition projects like »150 let fotografije na Slovenskem II.del« ( 150 Years of Slovenian Photography – Part II), »Akt na Slovenskem III – fotografija« (The Nude in Slovenia III – Photography) and »Geometrija samote« (The Geometry of Lonellines). Many years has passed since Pfeifer’s last independent exhibition and also his death in 1992, therefore the proposal given by Nadja Pfeifer, the photographer’s granddauther, was more then welcome. The exhibition organized by Nadja Pfeifer in collaboration with the Modern Gallery and the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana, presents the work of pioneer of Slovenian photography through photographs of nudes made prior to World War II and through photographs of saltflats made after the War. The photographs of nudes are from the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana and the photographs of saltflats are from the Modern Gallery. The exhibition accompanied by a catalogue including text of Pfeifer’s life and work made by Primož Lampič from the Architecture Museum of Ljubljana and reproductions of some Pfeifer’s photographs, will be concluded with the round table (25th November), when Nadja Pfeifer, Primož Lampič and Stojan Kerbler will discuss on the author’s work. The exhibition is also part of the 70th anniversary celebration of Fotoklub Maribor as Marjan Pfeifer was one of its founders and first presidents. It is also one of fifteen exhibitions of the first Month of Photography in Ljubljana.
