If any part of the world, which in its vastness transcends across a limitless space, were to be deprived of the element of depth, it would instantly change into a tiny miniature which would not have much common with real life. These places would become their own simulations, products of a synthesis of actual locations and their virtual miniaturization. And, what’s more – the newly formed images would, reminiscent of an accurate and carefully construed model, question every single distinguishing element between the real and the imaginary, the authentic and the fake.

And, what’s more – the newly formed images would, reminiscent of an accurate and carefully construed model, question every single distinguishing element between the real and the imaginary, the authentic and the fake.

In photos produced by Aleš Bravničar, places, objects and spaces take on an idealized image saturated with a feeling of innocence and intimacy, thanks to the “destruction” of the sharpness of depth. By using this technique, the author achieves an ultimate deconstruction of the perception of observing and seeing through a hyper reality of the generated world. All in all, it is more real than Baudrillard and more fake than Disneyland. Welcome to the Matrix… or maybe its miniature model.

Aleš Bravničar is one of Slovenia’s most sought after fashion and commercial photographers. He specializes in creative studio and location photography for corporate, advertising, and editorial clients like Max Factor, Elle and Elle Decor, Playboy, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Adria Airways, Lisca, Zlatarne Celje, Union and Laško Breweries, Sava-Goodyear, Hermes Softlab, Modna Jana, SKB-Societe Generale, Luna, Ytong, Trimo, Droga Kolinska, Eva, Deželna Banka Slovenije, Industrija Usnja Vrhnika and Nancy Beachwear. He also shoots promotional campaigns for clients such as Peugeot, Opel, FIat, Sony Ericsson, Frey Wille, SiMobil-Vodafone and Vichy.
